Whale Watching

Whale watching around the west coast of Vancouver Island is an exciting seafari. Though many whales feed on the West coast, it is the gray whales, the humpback whales, and the orca that are most often sighted.

Surfing

Tofino, with 22 miles of sandy beaches, is considered the surfing capital of Canada and one of the premier surfing locations in the world. Ucluelet is also an excellent location, but is less well known internationally than is Tofino. Hard-core locals consider this a plus.

Kayaking

The west coast of Vancouver Island is a kayaker's paradise. Choose from easy to challenging tours. Enjoy sheltered inlets, island chains, and secluded beaches. Watch gray whales as they migrate along the coast or humpback whales as they travel through the area. The possibilities are endless.

Hiking

When hiking in the Tofino and Ucluelet area, you'll be surrounded by majestic old-growth rainforests and pristine beaches. The forests are home to a variety of fascinating wildlife, including black bears, bald eagles, and deer. Along the beaches, you have the chance to view whales, otters, seals, and herons.

Ucluelet Aquarium

The Ucluelet area has an extensive catalog of biodiversity. The Ucluelet Aquarium is the ultimate showcase of local marine animals and all the information you need to know about them. The Aquarium has made it their mission to provide the public with a glimpse into the wonderful world of aquatic life through education and stunning displays.

Amphitrite Point Lighthouse

This Vancouver Island landmark is a beautiful sight to see. It’s the only active lighthouse in the Tofino-Ucluelet area that can be accessed by automobiles. The lighthouse itself is closed to the public, but don’t let that keep you from visiting because the grounds are open to the public

White Pacific Trails

The Wild Pacific Trail is an easy, family-friendly trail with lots to see along the way. It’s an excellent spot for whale and bird watching. If you follow the edge of reefs, you can find shipwrecks, wildlife, and, most of all, a stunning scenic view. The trail is perfect for photographers, storm watchers and hikers of all abilities.
