ostrom’s Bed and Breakfast is a luxurious waterfront getaway on the spectacular West Coast of Vancouver Island. We look forward to meeting new guests and love to see old friends return.

All of our rooms face south to islands that break the surf from the majestic Pacific Ocean beyond. The ocean views are continually changing with the light, the weather, the wildlife, and the boats that pass. Bostrom’s is the ideal location for storm watching in the fall and winter. In the spring a migration of 20,000 grey whales pass by the islands in front of the house, and in summer humpback whales, gray whales or orca are often seen blowing or jumping in the distance.

Travelers can gather and meet in a variety of common areas which include the 12,000 square foot common room, the fire pit, and three levels of ocean view decks.   With so many guest areas and only 3 guest rooms, travellers can also find privacy and solitude when they wish it. Privacy in the guest rooms has also been maximized with sound insulation, rez bar, and lead between adjoining walls. As spectacular ocean views are enjoyed from all guest rooms and all guest areas, you can be thrilled with the winter storms from your room or have the wind re style your hair on the ocean front deck. Come and enjoy nature’s most powerful coiffeur!

Top Deck

The top deck has a large Beach Comber Hot tub overlooking the ocean for the use of all guests. The Trail suite is on this level and has a garden area with a barbeque, a teak dining table, and cedar deck chairs all overlooking a spectacular bird’s eye ocean view set up especially for our Trail suite guests. It is not uncommon for eagles to fly by or land on one of the many ancient cedar or hemlock trees that frame the property.

Centre Deck

The centre deck, in front of the common room, has a barbeque, a teak dining suite, and a fire pit on the adjacent lawn. Guests are welcome to barbeque their catch, enjoy a meal, or congregate with a glass of wine on the deck or on the cool of the lawn. The Wild and Pacific rooms are on this middle level and each room has their own teak bistro table in covered alcoves located in front of sliding glass doors.

Lowest Deck

The lowest deck is accessible down a windy wooded path with stairs leading to the ocean. More cedar deck chairs and another teak dining suite await those that wish to have lunch or refreshments on the ocean level, or sit with a good book and enjoy the tranquility of this very special place.

Down the stairs to the left are concrete “lily pads’ for swimmers to jump off into the ocean. Some years the bay is lovely and warm and some years the hot tub is a welcome sight at the end of a swim.

Off to the right, stairs lead to a private rocky beach where low tide uncovers tide pools teaming with marine life. Enter a secluded rainforest garden under the arch of an ancient spruce tree. The spruce, once pushed over in a mighty storm, spans wet rock walls where ferns flourish. The tree continues to grow sending down branches that act like a privacy curtain where you can sit on a log and watch the comings and goings in the bay undetected by the outside world.

Common Room

Guests meet each other in the common room to enjoy a hearty gourmet breakfast every morning. On sunny days, breakfast can be enjoyed on the teak dining tables overlooking the breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Folk staying in the Trail suite can chose to join fellow guest in the common area or can request a private breakfast delivered to the dining table in their suite or to the teak dining suite on their outer deck.
