Looking out from your room to the amazing view of the ocean framed by ancient trees you might well feel you are in a secluded wilderness area. In fact, Bostrom’s B&B is just a short walk from fine cuisine in top notch restaurants, charming fish and chip shops, spas, an aquarium, and delightful finds in the many shops and art galleries in the tiny village of Ucluelet.
Situated on km 3.5 of the Wild Pacific Trail, travel in either direction from the B&B to meet up with the magnificent coastal trail that wanders through the succulent rain forest past beaches, the bell buoy, the whistle buoy, and the lighthouse.
Though there are many beaches within a short walk from your room, the magnificent long sandy beaches and hiking trails of the Pacific Rim National Park Long Beach are only a 10 minute drive. The largest beach, Long Beach, is divided into various other beaches including Wickaninnish Beach and Florencia Bay, by the terrain, the history, or the access roads in from the Park. Beach comb, build sandcastles, fly kites, play frisbee, or simply stare out into the ocean, breathing fresh air charged with oxygen from the surf and trees that surround you. A delight to the senses, you can see, taste, hear, and feel the power of the surf charging towards the beach.
With Pacific Rim National Park Long Beach to the West and Pacific Rim National Park Broken Group Islands to the East, Ucluelet is sandwiched between two sections of the Pacific Rim National Park.
Walk 2 blocks down the street and catch the "Ms. Judy" to the Broken Group Islands and Kayak with Majestic's guides through the calm waters while eagles call above and the whales jump in the distance. Wildlife tours take you on unforgettable boat rides amongst the islands spotting whales (gray, humpback, and orca), sea lions, sea otters, and a myriad of sea birds.
The variety and abundance of marine life and wild life, combined with the ocean, the islands, and lush forest makes Ucluelet a first class destination. For more photos of our wildlife, see our wildlife photos taken around the area by many guests and friends.
Some activities enjoyed in the area are:
scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing, whale watching, bear watching, surfing, ocean kayaking, surf kayaking, wakeboarding, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, birding, golfing, spa excursions, aquarium visits, shopping, ziplining, air tours, hot springs cove tours,
and my favorite; listening to the breath of the ocean roll back and forth and staying to watch the tide go in and out.
The summer temperatures are cool enough that no one in the village owns an air conditioner, yet warm enough to don a pair of shorts for the beach.
The winters bring magnificent storms and what better place to watch them from than the delicious warmth of the hot tub, the spacious inside accommodations, or feel the thrill of the surge and the spray on your face from the secure vantage of the waterfront deck.
No matter what the season,
or time of day,
Bostrom's B&B is your retreat into an outdoor adventure, a romantic getaway, or a place to relaxe and rejuvenate.
